FORT WORTH, Texas – After a one-year hiatus, the traditional Alumni game returns to kick off the 2009 baseball season on Feb. 7. A new ruling by the NCAA allows squads to return to the old format of the Alumni Team playing the current squad. The game will conclude the team’s annual Alumni weekend, which commences with the Sixth Annual First Pitch Banquet Friday, Feb. 6. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start at Lupton Stadium.

Returning to Lupton Stadium are a number of outstanding Frogs who have gone on to the professional ranks. Making their first trip to Lupton Stadium as alums will be Andrew Cashner (Chicago Cubs), Bryan Kervin (Toronto Blue Jays) and Clint Arnold. Joining the trio will be a number of other alums who are in the professional ranks in Jake Arrieta (Baltimore), Lance Broadway (Chicago White Sox), Brad Furnish (St. Louis) and Sam Demel (Oakland).

Other alumni returning to TCU are Stuart Musslewhite, Keith Conlon, Terry Trofholz and Kyle Dahlberg. The all-time winningest coach in TCU baseball history, Lance Brown, returns to coach the alumni squad.

All Alumni interested in participating should call Derek Hassel at 817-257-5155. The game is free and open to the public.
