The LSU Tigers are the top ranked team in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll that was released today. LSU recieved 14 out of the 30 first place votes. The Tigers made the College World Series before being eliminated by North Carolina. The Tar Heels are the number 2 team in the country after going 54-14 last season while competing in the College World Series. They received 12 first place votes from the coaches. The Rice Owls are ranked third in the poll receiving a single first place vote. The Georgia Bulldogs are in the fourth spot while the Texas A&M Aggies received two first place votes while being voted fifth. The Stanford Cardinal picked up the only other first place vote as they came in sixth.
