Rivals.com continues their Top 25 countdown today with the Miami (FL) Hurricanes checking in at the 23rd spot. Last year, Miami (FL) was ranked in the Top 5 in the country throughout the year and held down the number 1 spot for several weeks. The season ended with a trip to the College World Series where they went 1-2 with a victory over ACC and instate rival Florida State. The Hurricanes have heavy losses in the lineup with Yonder Alonso, Jemile Weeks, Blake Tekotte, Adan Severino, Mark Sobolewski and Dennis Raben all leaving the program. The Hurricanes pitching staff looked on paper to be the strongest part of the squad but Eric Erickson ended up coming down with an arm injury which required surgery and will miss the 2009 season. Sophomore pitcher Chris Hernandez and Junior pitcher Kyle Bellamy will have to pick up the slack. The full article from Rivals is available by clicking here.
