POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist Department of Athletics released the baseball team’s 2009 schedule on Wednesday. The Red Foxes have 54 regular-season games scheduled this season, including 17 home contests at McCann Baseball Field. Marist opens its season with a three-game series at Charleston Southern, with its first game set for Feb. 20.

The Red Foxes will begin their season with 15 straight non-conference games, all on the road, as they will also face the likes of New Orleans, Norfolk State, Holy Cross, Delaware and George Mason. Marist’s first home date will be March 21, when the Red Foxes play a doubleheader with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Iona. That doubleheader will start a three-game series which will wrap up the following day.

Marist will once again face Hudson Valley rival Army at Dutchess Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Rays’ short-season Class A affiliate. The Red Foxes will take on the Black Knights in Fishkill on Wednesday, April 29 at 7 p.m.

Marist’s regular season will wrap up with seven consecutive home games. The Red Foxes will host three-game conference series with Niagara and Fairfield, with a non-conference tilt with Northeastern sandwiched in.

The 2009 MAAC Tournament will be played in Trenton, N.J., and will take place from May 21-23. The top four teams in the conference’s regular season qualify for the tournament.
