PHILADELPHIA – Head Coach Mike Lake has announced the newest additions to La Salle University Baseball, who will join the team for the 2010 season.
Joe Bennie is a 6-0, 170-pound middle infielder from Stroudsburg High School. Entering his senior season, he is already a two-time First Team All-Area shortstop, and a two-time First Team All-Conference selection, while helping his team to a pair of Mountain Valley Conference Championships.
In 2008, Bennie was named the MVC Most Valuable Player and was honored with the Stroudsburg Maroon Glove Award. The previous season, he received the Stroudsburg Maroon Bat Award. He was also selected to a pair of Carpenter Cup teams, and was a member of the Mid-America team during the 2007 Blue/Grey Classic in Greensboro, NC.
Eric Kammler is a 6-4, 195-pound infielder from Hilltown, PA and played for Pennridge High School and will join his brother Adam, who is currently a freshman on the Explorers roster.
Kammler was named the 2008 Outstanding Amateur Athletic Achievement for the Keystone Games, and helped his team to a pair of Gold Medals at the Games in 2007 and 2008.
He also helped Pennridge to a runner-up finish in the District One Championships and a State Quarterfinal appearance in 2007, while picking up a pair of All-League honors.
La Salle will open the 2009 season with a four-game trip at Duke starting on Friday, February 20.
