Brooks Hatch of the Corvallis Gazette-Times recently posted an article questioning whether or not a Oregon State jersey was buried at the site of the new Oregon field. The Oregon Athletic Director heard the rumors of this news and decided to have it investigated. They ended up digging up all five inches of dirt around the plate and didn’t find any Oregon State merchandise. You can check out the full article by clicking here.

If you read the Corvallis Gazette-Times article, don’t miss the comments at the bottom; there are some good ones.
I think that the punch line here is that the UO people took the trouble to dig up the home plate area. I wonder, if they had found anything, would Pacific Excavation have been blacklisted from future UO contracts?
And, of course, that jersey or t-shirt could easily be under one of the on-deck circles, under second base…
