The CBB continues our countdown to the 2009 College Baseball season with our Top 50 players to watch. We will be providing one player each day (Monday-Saturday) until we reach number 1. We continue our list with junior outfielder Josh Fellhauer of Cal-State Fullerton.
The Rancho Cucamonga California native started his freshman campaign as a platoon player before solidifying a spot in the starting lineup. He ended up playing in 56 out of the teams 63 games with 39 starts while hitting at a .304 clip with 28 RBI. The Titans ended up making another appearance in the College World Series as Fellhauer went 9-32 (.281 average) in the postseason as he was named to the All-Tournament team in the San Diego Regional.
Fellhauer picked up where he left off during his sophomore year as he came back stronger. He ended up finishing the season with a .335 average with seven homers and 40 RBI. He was also a solid base runner with 17 stolen bases in 23 attempts. He led the team with 62 runs scored in 62 games of action.
After the season was over, he was selected to become a member of the USA Collegiate National Team which took part in the Haarlem Baseball Week and the FISU Tournament in the Czech Republic. The team ended up finishing the summer with a perfect 24-0 record winning both tournaments. Fellhauer ended up with the second highest average at .299 with two homers and 15 RBI.
We think that he will continue to develop in the 2009 season which will make him one of the top players in the country. We should have a few reports on Josh throughout the season as my west coast editor Mark Rafferty will be covering the team in depth.
