IPFW announces 2009 Schedule

Fort Wayne, IN- The IPFW Baseball program has released its schedule for the 2009 season, and it features some stiff competition. IPFW will play 20 games at Mastodon Field.

The Mastodons will open the season in Bloomington, Indiana, as they take on the Hoosiers, February 24, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Sembower Field. The following three games will take place in Richmond, Kentucky, with two games against Buffalo and one game against Eastern Kentucky.

In March, the Mastodons will play 13 of 16 games on the road, including a three game set with the University of Michigan, (March 22-24) and two games against Purdue (March 15 and 24). The first home game of the season will take place March 18 against Toledo at Mastodon Field. The `Dons will finish the month with a three game series at home against Le Moyne (March 28-29).

April is when IPFW will play the majority its home games, with 12 at Mastodon Field. On April 1, the `Dons will take on Big Ten contender Purdue. Other notable home games include Butler (April 8) Southern Utah (April 10-12), Valparaiso (April 14), Dayton (April 15) and Oakland (April 17-19). IPFW will end April will four road games with three against conference foe Centenary College (April 24-26), and one against Ball State (April 29) in Muncie, Indiana. To close the season, IPFW will face three Summit League opponents.

The Mastodons will start May with a pair of double hitters at home against Western Illinois (May 2-3), and finally head West and play four games against South Dakota State (May 8-10) and four games against North Dakota State (May 14-16). If the `Dons finish in the top four in the conference standings, they will qualify for the Summit League Tournament, which will be held on May 21.
