Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel baseball head coach Fred Jordan announced Monday that the program has signed four future cadet-student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Two pitchers and two positions players have signed with the Bulldogs in the 2010 recruiting class.

Ben Carr (Atlanta, Ga./Stockbridge HS), Josh Pless (Spartanburg, S.C./Boiling Springs HS), Austin Pritcher (Charleston, S.C./James Island HS) and Jeff Spillane (Houston, Texas/Houston Christian HS) will join The Citadel baseball program in the fall of 2009. The four signees hail from Georgia, South Carolina and Texas, include two state champions and two players who were born one day apart.

Ben Carr Catcher 6-3 | 190 | Atlanta, Ga. (Stockbridge HS)
High School: Will graduate from Stockbridge High School in 2009… earned three letters in baseball and football while lettering in basketball twice… hit .396 his junior year… played for Team Carolina, earning MVP honors… competed on the National Under Armour Team and for Chain Baseball… garnered Triple Crown and USSSA championships with Chain Baseball… coached by Shawn Lacey and Johnny Burch.

Personal: Benjamin Charles Carr… born Oct. 23, 1990 in Atlanta, Ga… son of Charles and Belinda Carr… father, Charles, played basketball at Savannah State in 1975-76… has two siblings, Eugene (30) and Kyla (25)… planning on majoring in business administration.

Josh Pless Infielder 5-11 | 160 | Spartanburg, S.C. (Boiling Springs HS)
High School: Will graduate from Boiling Springs HS in 2009… a member of the South Carolina 2008 AAAA state championship team… is expected to letter all four years in baseball… coached by Jeff Lipscomb, Joel Goff and Terry Hughes.
Personal: Joshua Ray Pless… born Feb. 14, 1991 in Spartanburg, S.C… son of Joe and Raeanne Pless… most memorable moment in baseball was hitting a two strike, two out home run in the state playoff game his junior year of high school en route to a state championship… plans on majoring in health, exercise and sport science.

Austin Pritcher Pitcher 6-1 | 170 | Charleston, S.C. (James Island HS)

High School: Will graduate from James Island High School in 2009… recorded a 2.25 ERA his junior year… played for the South Carolina Diamond Devils, helping to lead them to the Perfect Game National Championship… coached by Tom Hatley, Stephen Williams and Donnie Pritcher, all of which are graduates of The Citadel.

Personal: Austin Keith Pritcher… born Feb. 13, 1991 in Charleston, S.C… son of Donnie and Johna Pritcher… father, Donnie, wrestled at The Citadel from 1982-86… brother, Robert, is a catcher at Spartanburg Methodist College… will major in physical education.

Jeff Spillane Pitcher 6-2 | 205 | Houston, Texas (Houston Christian HS)
High School: Will graduate from Houston Christian High School in 2009… led his team to a 5A State Championship in 2008… earned All-State and All-District honors his junior year… went 16-6 with a 2.00 ERA en route to a state championship… coached by Ron Mathis and Shawn Ina.

Personal: Jeffrey Alan Spillane, Jr… born July 15, 1990 in Houston, Texas… son of Jeff Spillane, Sr. and Yvonne Stricklen… father, Jeff, played basketball at Trinity University from 1976-78… aunt, Joan Spillane, was a gold medalist in the 4x100m freestyle relay at the 1960 Olympics in Rome… will major in business administration.
