Head Baseball Coach Mark Johnson- Sam Houston State University
Head Coach Mark Johnson and the Bearkats of Sam Houston will play the first 14 games at home to open their 2009 campaign. They will get started with a four game home contest against Creighton on opening weekend starting on February 20th. Bearkats will follow it up with a mid week contest with Prairie View A&M. Then Saint Mary’s, Nebraska, and Missouri State will visit Huntsville for a Tournament the weekend of the 27th of February.
The rest of the Non conference has teams from Rice, Baylor, Houston, Utah visiting the Bearkats and the will Visit A&M and then a return trip to Rice.
Coach Johnson and the Bearkats open the Southland Conference at home with a weekend contest on March the 6th against UT-Arlington. The following weekend they will travel San Marcos to face the Bobcats of Texas State. They will then close conference play at home on May 14th against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
SLC Tournament will begin Wednesday May 20 at Corpus Christi, Texas.
