The CBB continues our countdown to the 2009 College Baseball season with our Top 50 players to watch. We will be providing one player each day (Monday-Saturday) until we reach number 1.

We continue the list today with junior catcher Tommy Medica from Santa Clara. He is a 6-1 190 pound right handed hitting catcher from Bellarmine College Prep and San Jose California.

Tommy Medica spent the 2008 season leading the Broncos lineup. He ended up finishing the season with a .342 average with six homers and 44 RBI in 55 games. He was also solid behind the plate where he threw out 24 out of 40 runners trying to steal. He only made four errors on the year but allowed six passed balls which needs to be cut down in 2009. The West Coast Conference selected him to the All-WCC Second team for his 2008 campaign.

Medica spent the 2008 summer with the Harwich Mariners where he finished third in the league in hitting with a .352 average with 16 RBI in 32 games. He was honored by the CCBL as a member of the 2008 All-League team.

He had an outstanding freshman campaign in 2007 which saw him lead the West Coast Conference in hitting with a .377 average. He was named to the All-WCC First Team and also to the All-Freshmen team in the WCC. He was selected after the season to be a member of the USA National Team where he played in the Pan-American games leading Team USA to a 11-5 record.
