LOS ANGELES – The UCLA baseball program will host its annual Alumni Game on Saturday, Feb. 7, two weeks prior to the team’s season-opening weekend against UC Davis. Former UCLA ballplayers will have the opportunity to play each other at Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium that afternoon.
The 2009 Alumni Baseball Game is open to the public and free of charge. The Bruin baseball program encourages former players, coaches and managers to return to Jackie Robinson Stadium for an enjoyable day of baseball. Due to NCAA regulations, the Alumni will not scrimmage the current Bruins – instead, the day’s Alumni Game will feature two alumni teams.
Last season, over 80 former baseball players returned to Jackie Robinson Stadium for an enjoyable afternoon. The UCLA baseball program anticipates an ever stronger turnout this season.
HOW TO REGISTER
Registration for the Alumni Game is being coordinated by assistant coach P.C. Shaw. To RSVP for the 2009 Alumni Game, e-mail P.C. Shaw at pshaw@athletics.ucla.edu (phone: 310-794-8210). Please RSVP by Friday, Jan. 16, to confirm your attendance for this season’s annual Alumni Game.
Please provide P.C. Shaw your t-shirt size and jersey number. The UCLA baseball program would love to see as many of its former players back at the ballpark for the Alumni Game and throughout the season. Please spread word to former teammates about this year’s Alumni Game.
NOTES ABOUT THE REGISTRATION PROCESS
Admission is free to the Alumni Game – UCLA does not need a list of your family in order to leave tickets. An extended timetable of the morning and afternoon’s events will be announced by early January.
