Nevada Fall World Sereis Update Game 5

Reno, Nev. – The white team hit three home runs in the late innings on Wednesday morning to defeat the blue squad 7-6 in 10-innings in game five of the University of Nevada baseball teams Blue versus White series at Peccole Park. The white squad trailed in the series 2-0 but won the final three games to claim the series victory 3-2. With the series concluded the Wolf Pack has complete fall practice.

With the white squad trailing 6-1, shortstop Kevin Rodland started the rally with a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to make the score 6-3. With one out pitcher Brock Stassi, who started the game in left field, hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the score and send the game into extra innings. First baseman Shaun Kort ended the game with leadoff home run in the bottom of the 10th to give the white squad the 7-6 victory and 3-2 series win.

In addition to driving in three runs Stassi took to the mound and pitched two shutout innings to earn the win. Beau Witsoe was the losing pitcher allowing the solo home run to Kort.

Stassi was 2-for-5 with three RBI for the white squad. Catcher Travis Simas (3-for-4,R), center fielder Waylen Sing Chow (2-for-4,2R), Rodland (2-for-5,R,2RBI), Kort (2-for-4,R,RBI) and third baseman Joe Kohan (2-for-4) also had multiple hits for the winning team.

Third baseman Tyson Jaquez went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the blue squad. Second baseman Matt Bowman (2-for-5,2R), first baseman Joe Wallace (2-for-4,2RBI), catcher Mike Turay (2-for-4,R,2RBI) and center fielder Westley Moss (2-for-6) each had two hits for the blue team.
