Hiram Burgos of Bethune Cookman

The CBB starts the countdown to the 2009 College Baseball Season by checking in with the Top 50 players in the country. We will be providing one player each day until we reach number 1.

We start the list at number 50 with Bethune-Cookman’s senior right-handed pitcher Hiram Burgos. He is listed at 5-11 and 200 pounds out of Cayey, Puerto Rico. He played two years of baseball at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School under coach Edwin Correa.

He dominated the mound for the Wildcats in 2008 leading them with a 9-1 record and a solid ERA of 1.58 in 16 appearances with 13 starts in 2008. The MEAC named him the 2008 Pitcher of the Year for his accomplishments on the mound. In 2007, Burgos was no slouch as he accumulated a 6-7 record with a 3.40 ERA with a conference ERA mark of 1.09 in the MEAC.
