The Kansas baseball team concluded the 2008 fall season on Thursday with a scrimmage at Hoglund Ballpark. The Jayhawks practiced and scrimmaged for 40 days in preparation for the upcoming 2009 season.

“Fall practices ended on a positive note,” Kansas head coach Ritch Price said. “We had a great window weather-wise. We didn’t miss a single day of practice, and yesterday it was 70 degrees and sunny for our last scrimmage.”

Price also announced the honorees for the seventh and final week (Oct. 27-30) of practice. Freshman Lee Ridenhour and Kelson Boyer were named co-Pitchers of the Week. Ridenhour pitched five innings this past week allowing no runs on two hits with six strikeouts, while Boyer allowed a run on two hits over five innings and also struck out six.

Freshman outfield Jake Marasco and sophomore infielder Greg Herbst were named co-Players of the Week, while senior Nick Faunce turned in the plus-play of the week.

The Jayhawks will open the season Feb. 20 at the Service Academy Classic in Millington, Tenn.
