Mississippi State puts the finishing touches on its 45-day fall baseball practice this week at Dudy Noble Field when the Diamond Dogs square off in the Maroon/White World Series. Game one of the four-game series is set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, and there is no charge for admission.

A pair of freshmen hurlers will be matched in the series-opener, with rookie lefty Nick Routt (Silver Spring, Md.) of the Maroon team working opposite right-hander Devin Jones (Eupora, Miss.) of the White squad.

Junior right-hander Ricky Bowen (Jasper, Ala.) and sophomore lefty Forrest Moore (Baton Rouge, La.) are scheduled to draw game-opening mound duty in Friday’s 6:30 p.m. contest. Prior to Friday’s game, MSU’s baseball’s support group, the Dugout Club, will hold its yearly fall dinner meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Griffis Boardroom adjoining the Palmeiro Center.

The Maroon/White World Series continues with games Saturday (9 a.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m.).
