A three-run sixth and then two more runs in the seventh and eight innings helped the Green team get past the White team, 6-2, in game two of the Michigan State baseball team’s inter-squad scrimmage on Monday (Oct. 27).

Freshman Andrew Carpenter, who went 3-for-4 in game one, returned with another strong performance for the Green team in game two by knocking in three runs in a 2-for-3 performance. Junior Kyle Corcoran earned the win in throwing 2 1/3 innings of relief work, surrendering just one run and striking out two batters. Seth Williams earned the save, striking out four in 2 2/3 innings.

For the White squad, freshman Ryan Jones built off his three-hit performance in game one by picking up three hits and scoring once in game two. Senior pitcher Max Miller started on the hill for the White team and went four innings and allowed just one run while fanning three.

Green team starter Tony Bucciferro threw four scoreless innings and allowed just three hits.

The two teams will play the final game of the Green-White World Series at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Kobs Field.
