COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Black team picked up an 8-2 win in game three of Mizzou Baseball’s Fall World Series to claim the series title, two games to one. Sophomore Nick Tepesch struck out 10 in 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits in Monday’s series finale.
The Black team scored a run in each of the first four innings, and then put up three in the bottom of the fifth. The three runs came on back-to-back doubles from sophomore Jonah Schmidt and freshman Andre Rodriguez. Schmidt’s double drove in one and two crossed the plate on the double by Rodriquez. Black would add another run in the seventh.
Junior Trevor Coleman and freshman Sam Lind each had two hits for the Black team and Lind scored three runs in the game.
Sophomore Andrew Thigpen was 3-for-3 with an RBI and freshman Conner Mach finished the night 2-for-3 for the Gold squad.
Tepesch opened the game by striking out the side in the top of the first inning and closed his appearance on the mound by striking out five of the final eight batters he faced.
Juniors Andrew Mueller and Ryan Allen combined to pitch 3.1 scoreless inning to finish out the victory.
