KENNESAW, Ga.–Head Coach Mike Sansing and the Kennesaw State baseball team have released the 2009 schedule which this season includes first time meetings with Kent State and Southern Utah who both visit Stillwell Stadium.
The 2009 slate includes 28 home games and includes six non-conference games with in-state rivals Georgia, Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern. The Owls will play the Yellow Jackets three times including a March 17 meeting at Stillwell Stadium.
The Owls will face Georgia Southern two times with the Eagles visiting campus on Apr. 29 for a mid-week night game. The Bulldogs and the Owls will meet once with KSU visiting Athens, Ga. on Apr. 21. The Owls have won at least one game during the last two seasons in Athens against UGA.
The season opens on the road with the Black and Gold facing Samford in a weekend series February 20-22 in Birmingham, Ala. The Owls home opener comes mid-week on February 25 when Troy comes to Stillwell Stadium.
The Campbell Camels coming to town for a weekend series on Feb. 27 for the first of five weekend conference series at Stillwell Stadium. The defending A-Sun champion Lipscomb Bisons come to town on April 3-4 with USC Upstate headed to KSU the following weekend.
The Jacksonville Dolphins and Florida Gulf Coast Eagles conclude the conference home season in early May. The Dolphins play the Owls on May 1-2 with FGCU wrapping up the home season the following weekend.
Kent State will make their first appearance at Stillwell Stadium as they play the Black and Gold in a four-game weekend series March 13-15. Another new opponent in 2009 will be Southern Utah. The Thunderbirds will come to campus for a three-game series March 20-21.
The Black and Gold will visit East Tennessee State, Stetson, Mercer and Belmont on the road with the Owls concluding their fourth and final reclassification year with a three-game series against long time rival North Florida in Jacksonville on May 14-15.
