OU Pitching Leads Red to Game One Win
The Red squad won game one of the annual Red/White Series on Monday, 3-1, at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Junior Garrett Richards and sophomore Ryan Duke combined for 12 strikeouts to earn the win and the save, respectively.
Richards struck out five batters and allowed two hits and zero walks across four of the seven-innings played. The Edmond, Okla., native received all the run support needed in the third inning during his start for the Red team. In the decisive frame, junior Elliott Blair and freshman Jordan Imhoff hit a pair of solo home runs and senior J.T. Wise drove in the other run off a double to left field. FULL STORY
BLUE TEAM OVERCOMES 6-0 DEFICIT
Six early Red team runs made it look like a seventh game would be necessary to decide the 2008 Red and Blue World Series. But a late rally extended the game, and Nathaniel Lami drove in the winning run as the Blue team won game six 8-7 in 10 innings to win the World Series 4-2 Sunday at Stanky Field.
Michael Raia, working his third inning of the night, retired the first two Blue team batters he faced in the top of the 10th, but Michael Meredith came up with a two-out single to bring Lami to the plate. Meredith quickly stole second base and came home to score on Lami’s single through the left side to give the Blue team an 8-7 lead. FULL STORY
