Baseball to Scrimmage Saturday at Taylor Stadium

The Mizzou baseball team will continue its fall practice with a scrimmage Saturday before the MU football game against Oklahoma State. The baseball action will get underway at 1:30 p.m. at Taylor Stadium. The intersquad scrimmage will be open to the public and is free of charge.

“We had a great turnout when we held our first public scrimmage a few weeks ago and with this weekend’s scrimmage being held in the afternoon, I’m hoping more fans can make their way out,” Head Coach Tim Jamieson said. “We are very pleased with how things have gone so far this fall. Saint Mary’s Baseball Alumni Game in Memory of Jeff Peterson ‘84

The Saint Mary’s Baseball Team will host their annual Alumni Baseball Game on Saturday, October 11th at Louis Guisto Field. The Alumni game will once again be a great opportunity to see old teammates and friends, meet this year’s team, and support SMC Baseball.

The day will start with registration at 9:30 a.m. and batting practice at 10 a.m. Two games are scheduled for the afternoon, the first will be the Alums vs. Alums, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and the second will be the Alums vs. the SMC Varsity, which will start at approximately 1:00 p.m. FULL STORY

Alumni game to be featured homecoming weekend

Western Illinois baseball will hold an alumni game on Homecoming weekend, Sunday, October 19. Game time is 11 a.m. at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium.

“Response from baseball alumni has been terrific,” said Western Illinois head baseball coach Stan Hyman. “Players from the ‘50s to the present are planning on playing or at least watching the game. It’s a great opportunity to see the new stadium, as well as catch up with former teammates and fellow baseball alumni.” FULL STORY

UConn Baseball Holds Annual Blue/White World Series

The University of Connecticut baseball team will be holding its annual Blue/White World Series on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10 and 11 at J.O. Christian Field.

The Huskies will be separated into two teams and will play a best-of-three, seven inning-game series beginning Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Saturday’s game is set for 10:00 a.m. FULL STORY

University of Houston Baseball Wraps Up First Week of Fall Practice

The University of Houston baseball team wraps up its first week of fall practice today as part of a month-long schedule that includes two fall games and will culminate on Nov. 8 when the 2008 Cougar Baseball team receives their 2008 Conference USA Championship rings and will be honored at the Houston football game against Tulane.

Houston will play its first fall game Saturday against Alvin Community College at Cougar Field. The game is scheduled to begin at noon. Fans are invited to attend.

UH will continue its weekday practices, which are set to begin at 2:30 p.m. and are closed to the public. Weekend practices are open to all fans. On Oct. 18, the Cougars will play a final fall game against San Jacinto College at noon. FULL STORY

Bears, Caritas Coordinate Food Drive

Baylor baseball and Caritas-Waco will join forces for a food dive in conjunction with Sunday’s fall scrimmage against Texas at Baylor Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CDT. Admission is free.

Fans attending the game are asked to bring non-perishable food donations, which will go directly to the Caritas-Waco food bank. Specific foods Caritas-Waco especially request are canned meats (tuna, salmon, chicken, etc.), cereal and pasta. NC State Fall World Series Begins Friday Evening

Fall practice officially hits the homestretch this weekend when the NC State baseball team will hold its annual fall world series. Fall practice began September 12, and the Wolfpack already has played 15 scrimmage games. Fall practice will run through October 23.

The three-game world series will begin on Friday, October 10 at 6 p.m. Game two will be Saturday, October 11, at 1 p.m., with the finale on Sunday, October 12 at 1 p.m. All three games will be at Doak Field at Dail Park. Admission is free to the public. FULL STORY

Cajuns Prep For Fall World Series

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team announced Wednesday the schedule for the 14th Annual Red-Black Fall World Series to be held at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.

The series begins on Monday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m. Games two and three are slated for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 7, respectively. The best-of-five intrasquad series will finish with games four and five, if necessary, on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m.

Fall practices are ongoing for the Cajuns, with open intrasquad scrimmages every Thursday and Friday, as well as selected Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Senior members of the team will hold their annual Red-Black Fall World Series Draft following practice on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Cox Communications Athletic Center. FULL STORY
