ULM Slugs Past Arkansas-Monticello 12-5 in Fall Baseball Action

Behind a rounded offensive attack, ULM defeated Arkansas-Monticello 12-5 Sunday afternoon in fall baseball action. Six Warhawk players recorded multiple hits, led by Ben Soignier’s 2-for-3, 3-RBI outing.

The game does not count towards either of the teams’ overall records; however it does count towards the Warhawks’ 56-game schedule for the season.

Boomer Blanchard, Kelvin York, Jon Prevost, Matt Laird and Josh Chappell also recorded two hits, while Chappell drove home three runs.

Prevost had the game’s lone long ball with a two-run blast in the eighth inning. Soignier scored three times on the game had a pair of doubles, while Laird and Prevost also scored three times.

Five Warhawk pitchers combined for the winning effort, with three of the five throwing scoreless outings. Scott Stephen earned the win tossing the first two innings striking out three and allowing just one hit. ULM’s closer Derek Ward struck out four of the six batters he faced to close out the game.

The Warhawks continue their fall season next Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. against Bossier Parish Community College. ULM will once again collect food for the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana at the gate .
