Alex Jaffee and his gold squad will vie to team bragging rights in the annual Black and Gold Series.

The Major Leagues won’t be the only ones taking the field today, as the Purdue baseball team is joining in on the excitement of October play with the opening game of the annual Black and Gold Series.
The Boilermakers will split into two squads and play a best-of-five series over the course of the next week. Black and Gold Series captains John Cummins and Alex Jaffee drafted the clubs that will vie for team bragging rights.
The public is welcome to come out to Lambert Field and take a first look at the 2009 lineup. Admission to all five games of the series is free.
The series opens on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. and the remainder of the schedule, as well as rosters, can be found below.
