Cory Barton Hired as Assistant Baseball Coach at ULM
Cory Barton has been named assistant baseball coach at ULM, head coach Jeff Schexnaider announced on Tuesday. Barton’s hire is pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
Barton joins the Warhawk staff after two seasons as an assistant coach at Memphis and a two-year playing career with the Tigers.
“We are really excited to have Cory joining our staff,” Schexnaider said. “He is one of the top young assistants in the country and comes to us from one of the top programs in the nation. We are very fortunate to have him on our staff and working with our student-athletes.” FULL STORY

Kennesaw State Intrasquad Games Open to the Public
he Kennesaw State baseball team will open the gates of Stillwell Stadium to the public this week for the team’s intrasquad games. This Tuesday through Thursday, the team will play starting at 2:00 p.m.
The intrasquad games are part of the fall practice season. Fall practice began last week as head coach Mike Sansing and his coaching staff was allowed to begin to work with the Owls as a whole instead of working with the team on an individual basis. FULL STORY
NC-Charlotte Baseball Team Practice Enters Second Week
Charlotte, N.C. – Fall team practice heads into its second week, with only Tuesday’s work scheduled at Tom and Lib Phillips Field at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. On Wednesday, practice begins at North Mecklenburg High School as the playing surface continues to undergo its fall maintenance process.
Tentative scrimmage dates will be this Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at nearby North Meck High in neighboring Huntersville. FULL STORY
Justin Gordon Returns To Temple As Assistant Baseball Coach
Justin Gordon, who served as the pitching coach at Temple in 2007, has returned to head coach Rob Valli’s staff in the same position, it was announced today. A former professional pitcher with six years of minor league experience, Gordon spent last season as the pitching coach at Northeastern, guiding his pitching staff to a school record for strikeouts.
“We are excited and fortunate that Coach Gordon is back in our program,” Valli said. “Justin has made a significant impact on every pitching staff he’s worked with. The transition back to Temple should be seamless.”
“I am excited at the opportunity to re-join the Temple University Baseball program,” Gordon said. “I am honored that Coach Valli and the athletic department has selected me as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. Frank Cruz Named Volunteer Assistant Coach
Frank Cruz has been named volunteer assistant coach for the USC baseball program, head coach Chad Kreuter announced today.
Cruz spent four seasons at Troy as an assistant coach (1993-96) under former head coach Mike Gillespie prior to his 12-year tenure as head coach at Loyola Marymount (1997-2008).
During his four years as an assistant coach at USC, the Trojans compiled a 169-86-1 record and made four straight NCAA Tournament appearances. In 1995, USC made its first College World Series appearance in 17 years, reaching the championship game and finishing with a 49-21 record. FULL STORY
