Head coach Tony Rossi announced the hiring of Joe Sinicola as the baseball team’s new pitching coach and recruiting coordinator effective immediately. Sinicola graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. where he played four seasons before serving as an assistant coach this past year.
Sinicola will be the primary assistant to Rossi, overseeing the development of the Saints’ pitching staff while handling a bulk of the program’s substantial recruiting responsibilities.
“We’re excited to have Joe on board,” Rossi said. “He is a talented young coach with a great work ethic and keen knowledge of the game. He will be a great asset to our program.”
Sinicola began his coaching career during his undergraduate summer months as an instructor and advisor at the Little League Southern Headquarters Southern Camp in St. Petersburg.
He was a member of the varsity baseball squad at Eckerd from 2003-2007 where he completed his history degree in May of 2008 after spending his final year at the school on the baseball staff as an assistant coach.
Sinicola parlayed his undergraduate experience into an assistant coaching position with the Glens Falls Golden Eagles of the New York Collegiate Baseball League this past summer. He designed and implemented a conditioning program, oversaw the travel and field maintenance responsibilities and worked as defensive coordinator for the Golden Eagles.
Sinicola joins a Siena program that posted a 30-26 record in 2008 and advanced to the MAAC Championship game.
