DAYTON, Ohio – One tournament and 24 home games headline the 2009 Flyer baseball campaign. In addition to their scheduled home games, the Flyers will compete in the Phoenix Classic, a four team round robin tournament which pits UD against teams from the BIG EAST, Missouri Valley Conference and West Coast Conference.

“Our 2009 non-conference schedule looks to be very challenging,” University of Dayton head coach Tony Vittorio said. “I think it will serve as a test for our Atlantic 10 games.”

The Flyers will take to the road to open the season with a weekend series against High Point on Feb. 22 before traveling to Phoenix, Ariz. to compete in the Phoenix Classic. The classic pits Dayton against Creighton, Gonzaga and Notre Dame all of which finished fifth place or better in their respective conference.

UD will begin its conference schedule at Athletes in Action Field located in Xenia, Ohio from March 20-22. St. Bonaventure will help open up their conference slate, and will kick off a nine game home stand for the Flyers spanning from the end of March to the beginning of April.

After hosting St. Bonaventure, UD will host Charlotte at Time Warner Cable Stadium from March 27-29. Dayton will take to the road in conference play five times this season; they face Rhode Island (April 3-5), Richmond (April 10-12), Fordham (April 24-26), Duquesne (May 2-4) and Xavier (May 14-16). In addition to the St. Bonaventure and Charlotte games, the Flyers will welcome Saint Louis (April 17-19) and La Salle (May 9-11).

The top six teams from the Atlantic 10 will travel to the conference tournament. The site for the 2009 A-10 Tournament has yet to be determined. Last season the Flyers finished seventh in the A-10 (31-25, 13-14 A-10), falling just short of the conference tournament.
