Bryan-College Station, TX (August 5, 2008) –

The Bombers hit the road for their first playoff game of the 2008 season, but not without some difficulties. The game was delayed for over an hour due to transportation issues and the Bombers were unable to recover. Sam Strickland pitched effectively for the Bombers but was unable to find any run support as the Bombers came up on the short end of the stick 5-2.

The McKinney Marshalls struggled to get in sync with Strickland in control early, but were finally able to get going in the fourth inning as Mike Walker singled to score Myrio Richard and Justin Bloxom came across the plate on a double steal. Behind 2-0, the Bombers managed to get on the board in the top of the fifth inning as Chad Colbert scored after a failed pickoff attempt from Marshals starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson. But with the Bombers threatening and only a run behind, the Marshals scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a pair of singles by Bloxom and Jake Smith to put the game out of reach.

The Bombers will be home for Margaritaville Wednesday against the McKinney Marshals in Game Two of the series, with the Bombers’ John Touchton battling Jake Wortham. Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry will be giving away $7500 in jewelry in the Diamond Derby, so don’t miss out on your chance to go home with a half carat diamond or one of the 24 topazes that will be given away!
