Pat White who serves as the starting quarterback on the West Virginia football team and was recently selected in the 50th round in the 2008 MLB draft and in the fourth round in 2004. He apparently approached West Virginia head coach Greg Van Zant but was turned away from playing. This is interesting since White is a pretty accomplished baseball player and his bat could have been used on a 35-21 team which finished under .500 in the Big East conference at 13-14. Pat White believes this is an issue with Van Zant and African-American players as there has not been many that have played for the Mountaineers. Fanhouse has posted an article about the situation which can be read here.
