Once again the Marshals fell short at Coppell (20-19) as the Copperheads defeated McKinney (21-17) on Thursday at the Snake Pit, 6-5.

J. B. Brown (Pacific) blasted two home runs for the Marshals, driving in three of the five runs, but it wasn’t enough as the Copperheads cut McKinney’s TCL lead down to 1 and 1/2 games.

Jake Wortham (BYU) got the start and earned the loss, giving up all six Coppell runs in his three innings pitched. Nick Thomas (McLennan), Hunter Hill (Texas), and Adam Scott (Shelton State) combined for six scoreless relief innings, a positive sign that the bullpen is getting it together.

McKinney will host Coppell on Friday, celebrating Christmas in July. The Marshals are teaming up with CASA of Collin County to help out abused and neglected children. All fans that bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game will recieve $1 admission. Game time is 7:05.
