Coppell starting pitcher Rhett Varner kept the hot Marshals bats in tact on Wednesday, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings of no-hit ball. Coppell (14-18) defeated McKinney (19-12) at The Gabe 4-2.
Digger Towe (UAB) broke up the no hitter with two outs in the seventh inning with a hard, line-drive single to right field. The Marshals finally got on the scoreboard in the eighth inning when Myrio Richard (Prairie View A&M) doubled home Joe Oliveira (Pacific) and Chuck Opachich (Jacksonville) for the only runs of the evening for McKinney.
Adam Scott (Shelton State JC) pitched well for the Marshals, going six innings and allowing only two runs on two hits while walking three and striking out six.
McKinney will host the East Texas Pump Jacks on Thursday night at 7:05 pm.
