According to some reports, Larry Hays who has been the head coach of the Texas Tech program for the last 22 seasons will retire and assistant coach Dan Spencer will take over the head coaching duties. This move was widely reported last year as Hays was nearing the end of his coaching career and Spencer left two time national champion Oregon State for Lubbock.

OK, Brian said he wanted some comments. Here’s one.
This Larry Hayes must be quite a guy. He coached at Lubbock Christian prior to Texas Tech. He took Lubbock Christian to an NAIA national championship in 1983. The LCU people were so happy with the job he did that they named their ballpark after him in 1999, 13 years after he moved to Texas Tech.
