Texas sweeps #9Texas A&M

Texas went into this series with A&M looking to improve its RPI standing and it overall record. If you would have told me 4 weeks ago or even 2 weeks ago that Texas will come out of this series sweeping all 3 games I would have told you there is no chance at all. Texas got a great outing from Chance Ruffin on Friday night, then the pitching staff received the biggest boost when Austin Wood threw his first career complete game on Saturday night. Texas A&M went into this series just needing 1 win to clinch the BIG 12 regular season title outright, but standing in their way was 6’10” Kenn Kasparek. Kenn was coming off a stretch where in his last three outing was beginning to look like Kenn of old. With the 14 day lay off between his last outing and today he was showing signs of rust. Kenn had just enough to keep the Aggie hitters off balance only allowing 5 hits and 3 runs.

Freshman Cole Green came into the game with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th looking to close out the game and the series. He was also showing signs of the two weeks lay off but, he kept the Aggie batters off balance and recorded a strike out to end the game and the series. With the relief Cole earn the win as the game was tied 3-3 when he came in but the Horns offense scored 1 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th on Russell Moldenhauer first home run of the season.

Up next for Texas will be against Missouri Tigers on Wednesday at a time to be determine. Missouri is the 4th seed and Texas will be the 5th seed. As soon as the Big 12 releases the tournament info I will be back and post the information on the Tournament.
