SFA senior Kevin Crabtree claims his third Southland Player of the Week award for first in the league.

FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference Baseball players of the week were named today by the conference office as Stephen F. Austin outfielder Kevin Crabtree, A&M-Corpus Christi catcher Stephen Flora earn co-hitter of the week honors and SFA pitcher Lance Luetge is awarded his first honor of the season. Crabtree claims consecutive honors and his third of the season to lead the league marking the team’s fifth award behind 2008 regular season champion UTSA with six.

HITTER

Kevin Crabtree, SFA, Sr., OF, Sugar Land, Texas

Crabtree continues to swing one of the hottest bats in the conference and continued hi pace with three multi-hit games against Texas-Arlington. He opened up the series with a pair of 3-for-4 performances and added a pair of homers in those games. He also had a pair of RBI hits in the series finale, including a 2RBI single that opened up the game in the later innings. He currently is riding a 16-game hit streak and has hit safely in 24 of 26 conference games this year.

Stephen Flora, AMCC, Jr., C, Austin, Texas

In his first three games hitting lead-off, Flora was unstoppable. He finished 11-of-14 with six doubles. He recorded a hit in his first seven at bats of the weekend and had three or more hits in each game. He is now batting .407 on the weekend.

PITCHER

Lance Lutege, SFA, Sr., LHP, Industry, Texas

Luetge tossed his second complete game win in his last three starts on Friday against Texas-Arlington, pushing the ‘Jacks to their ninth straight win. He allowed only a pair of unearned runs in the early innings and only allowed three balls to even leave the outfield. Of the 18 fielding outs, only one was via flyout while 17 were on the ground and four of the six hits allowed were infield hits.
