Ryan Quigley tossed a five-hit, one-run, 10-strikeout complete game and Frank Pesanello added to his single-season home run mark with a pair of three-run homers as the Northeastern University baseball team beat William & Mary 8-1 at Plumeri Park in the deciding game of a three-game series Saturday afternoon.

The complete game for Quigley was the first of his career and came in what was a very important game for the Huskies, who entered the day a half-game behind Towson for the sixth and final qualifying position in the CAA Championship.

Pesanello’s pair of three-run homers gave him 18 long balls on the season, adding two to his NU single-season record of 16 that he set on Tuesday. It was the second time on the season that the slugger knocked in six runs, as he did so earlier in the season in a game at Virginia Commonwealth.

Other offensive standouts for NU were Tony DiCesare, who went 2-3 with a double and a run scored, and Mike Lyon, who finished 2-4 with a triple and three runs scored. Mike Tamsin also chipped in with a double and two runs scored.

The Huskies improved to 22-23-1 on the season and 11-55-1 in the CAA. William & Mary dropped to 35-15 overall and 16-10 in the CAA. The Huskies are back in action in a non-conference game at Commander Shea Field in Chestnut Hill, Mass. tomorrow at 2 p.m.
