WEST DIVISION

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Adam Froeschl, 2B, Sr., Mary Hardin-Baylor

Mary Hardin-Baylor senior second baseman Adam Froeschl (Buda, TX / Hays HS) went 10-for-16 with 11 RBIs to help the Cru sweep Howard Payne and earn a share of the West Division title. Froeschl had two doubles, one home run and scored five times. He had at least three hits in each game.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Kyle Barton, RHP, Jr., Hardin-Simmons

Hardin-Simmons junior right-hander Kyle Barton (Seymour, TX / SHS) worked all three games of a sweep of Texas Lutheran – earning a win and save with no runs allowed – that gave the Cowboys a share of the West Division title. Barton surrendered just two hits and struck out six batters in 5 1/3 innings of work.


EAST DIVISION

HITTER OF THE WEEK
Cory Briggs, SS, So., Ozarks

Ozarks sophomore shortstop Cory Briggs (Greencastle, PA / Greencastle Antrim HS) went 10-for-16 with two home runs and two doubles over four games, including a 4-for-5 performance against NCAA Division II Arkansas Tech. Briggs also drove in six runs, scored five times, walked twice and stole two bases. He his hit streak is now at 14 games.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jonathan Russell, RHP, Sr., Mississippi College

Mississippi College senior right-hander Jonathan Russell (Quitman, MS / QHS) allowed just three runs and struck out six batters over 8 1/3 innings to defeat Texas-Tyler and give the Choctaws the right to host a first round series in the ASC Baseball Championship Tournament. Russell, who becomes a two-time winner of the division’s top pitching honor, moved to 8-1 on the season.

HITTERS: Hardin-Simmons OF Wayne Pimpton hit four doubles, one home run and drove in eight over four wins. . . . Concordia Texas 1B Chad Thielepape hit two home runs and two doubles to pace a sweep of Schreiner. . . . Texas Lutheran OF Drew Farr hit three homers in a series with HSU, giving him seven long balls in his last five games of the season. . . . LeTourneau 2B Aaron Bearden went 7-for-10 in a series win against Louisiana College despite entering with only four at-bats on the season. . . . Texas-Tyler OF Jared Hood went 7-for-11 with seven RBIs over a series win against Mississippi College. . . . East Texas Baptist OF Kyle PopeTyler Bray batted .563 with four doubles and a homer over four games. produced 10 hits over four games and stole two bases. . . . . Louisiana College 1B

PITCHERS: Concordia Texas RHP Ben Whitley allowed just one run over eight innings to beat Schreiner. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor RHP Jared Hopper shit out Howard Payne for seven innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win. . . . Texas-Tyler RHP Blake Booher held MC to two runs over six innings to earn the win. . . . Ozarks RHP Curt Dixon struck out 10 over seven innings in a win over Central Baptist.
