(#1) Miami (FL) at (#2)Florida State
The Miami Hurricanes head to Tallahassee this weekend to take on the Florida State Seminoles in a battle between the number 1 and number 2 teams in the country in most polls. The Hurricanes enter with a 31-3 overall record and 15-1 in the conference. In my opinion, I consider them to have the best lineup in the country with Jemile Weeks, Blake Tekotte, Yonder Alonso, Dennis Raben, and Mark Soblewski leading the offense. Every single one of those hitters should be drafted in the top 2 rounds of the MLB draft either this season or next depending on their eligibility. Eric Erickson and Chris Hernandez are the top two starting pitchers on the squad as they both have 5-0 record. Hernandez has an ERA of 2.77 while Erickson is right behind him with a 2.84 ERA. Carlos Gutierrez has served as the Canes closer where he has accumulated a 2-1 record with eight saves and an ERA of 2.96.
The Florida State Seminoles enter the weekend with a 33-3 overall record and 17-1 in the ACC. They are led by All-American catcher Buster Posey who leads the team with a .482 average while being second on the team with ten homers. He is a force behind the plate as baserunners do not even try to run on him because of his strong arm behind the plate as he has thrown out 17 out of the 40 base runners who have attempted a stolen base. The Seminoles have nine batters including Posey that have batting averages above .300 and the only other starter to have started 19 games Ohmed Danesh has a .293 average. The Seminoles number 1 starter Matt Fairel has been perfect in his college career as he is 8-0 with a 2.38 ERA.
