ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Tech took an early 2-0 lead off an RBI single from Derek Dietrich and a solo home run from Tony Plagman, but Miami’s offense proved to be too powerful for the Yellow Jackets as Miami came back to win 9-3. Hurricanes first baseman Yonder Alonso went 3-for-4 on the day with a home run and 2 RBI. Center fielder Blake Tekotte continued his hot streak, going 2-for-5 today and 9-for-15 on the series.

David Gutierrez pitched 6 strong innings for the Hurricanes to earn the victory. Georgia Tech starter Zach Von Tersch lasted only 4 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs.

Miami (30-3, 15-1 ACC) returns to action Wednesday on the road at Florida Atlantic before traveling to Tallahassee next weekend for a huge ACC series against the Florida State Seminoles. Georgia Tech (26-10, 9-9 ACC) travels to Statesboro to take on Georgia Southern on Wednesday before traveling to College Park to face Maryland. The Yellow Jackets’ game against Georgia Southern Tuesday has been canceled so that the team can attend the funeral of former teammate Michael Hutts.
