The University of Texas at Tyler baseball team out hit Louisiana College, 10-5, on its way to a 7-3 win on Friday night at Irwin Field. UT Tyler has now won nine straight games and 10 of its last 12.

The Patriots got things going early when senior Chris Goss (Waco, Texas) scored junior Jared Hood (Marshall, Texas) to give UT Tyler an early 1-0 lead.

The Wildcats, however, would battle back with a two RBI single from Chris Magee to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the third.

UT Tyler would have no answer for Louisiana until the bottom of the 6th inning when it would score three runs on three consecutive at-bats to take a 4-2 lead.

The Patriots would add three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to win the game, 7-3.

Senior Corey Farra (Lewisville, Texas) was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs, one double, one RBI and one walk. Senior Clay Baker (Henderson, Texas) had three hits in five at-bats with two RBIs.

Junior Blake Booher (Hurst, Texas) had another strong outing on the mound, allowing just two earned runs off of five hits with five strikeouts. With the win, Booher now stands a perfect 9-0 on the year.

UT Tyler is now 29-6 overall and 11-2 in the American Southwest Conference, while Louisiana is 15-19 on the year and 7-6 in league play.

The Patriots will return to Irwin Field on Saturday for their final two regular-season home games of the year. The ASC doubleheader against Louisiana is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
