RICHARDSON, Texas – Junior Blake Booher (Hurst, Texas) was named East Division Pitcher of the Week for games played March 24-30 by the American Southwest Conference on Monday night.
In Booher’s one appearance on the week, he threw a two-hit, complete game shutout. Booher struck out 10 batters and walked just two in the nine-inning near masterpiece. Booher held his opponents to a meager .071 batting average in the 7-0 Patriot win
The 10 strikeouts on the day gave him 73 on the season, making him UT Tyler’s single-season strikeout leader. Booher eclipsed Tim Matthews’ 2005 record of 72 with a little over three weeks left in the regular season.
Booher and his teammates will return to Irwin Field on Tuesday evening to take on Hardin-Simmons at 5 p.m.
