Mayor Mike Fahey stood shoulder to shoulder with David Sokol today to announce that the two had resolved their differences and are ready to move forward with a new downtown baseball stadium.
Sokol, chairman of the board that runs the Qwest Center Omaha, and Fahey signed a memorandum of understanding Monday evening that clears the way for a stadium on the center’s parking lots C and E.
At a press conference today at the Mayor’s Office, Fahey said the city and MECA had overcome a “major hurdle” with the agreement.
“I think this is it,” Sokol said, adding that the agreement is a done deal, “barring a surprise.”
