The College Baseball Blog and StatStud.com have teamed up this season to bring a weekly award for the top players in the last week. We will select one pitcher and hitter every week throughout the regular season. This week Brandon McClurg of Lipscomb University is our selection for Pitcher of the Week while Trent Lockwood of UT-San Antonio grabs the Player of the Week award.
Brandon McClurg pitched a no-hitter on Saturday against Kennesaw State as he went all nine innings allowing one walk as his defense committed two errors on the day in a 4-0 victory. He upped his record to 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA. He was recognized by Louisville Slugger as one of the five players of the week to add onto this award.
Trent Lockwood had a strong week leading the Roadrunners to a 3-2 record on the week with two wins over UT-Arlington and a victory over Prairie View A&M. They ended up dropping a single game to both Texas A&M and UT-Arlington. Lockwood hit .474 with eight runs scored, a double, four home runs, and 13 RBI. He is now hitting .327 on the year with five homer and twelve doubles.
