The College Baseball Blog and StatStud.com have teamed up this season to bring a weekly award for the top players in the last week. We will select one pitcher and hitter every week throughout the regular season. Grant Stoneburner of Clemson is our choice for Pitcher of the Week for a complete game victory against NC State on Sunday. Our hitter of the week is Gordon Beckham of Georgia who led the Dogs to a 4-1 week.
Redshirt freshman Grant Stoneburner pitched a complete game shutout on Sunday against NC State to up his record to 4-0 with a 2.70 ERA. He only allowed two hits against the Wolfpack while striking out seven batters and only walking one batter. He did not allow a single Wolfpack player pass second base in the game.
Gordon Beckham has continued his strong start to the season as he batted .556 (10 for 18) with four homers, seven runs scored, nine RBI, and five walks (three intentional). Beckham leads the SEC in many categories including batting average (.517) and 13 homers on the year. He is also among the leaders with 32 RBI.
