CORVALLIS, Oregon (Ticker) — Oregon State suspended two players Thursday, including last season’s Most Outstanding Player from the College World Series, for the upcoming three-game series with Pepperdine. The two-time defending champion of the CWS, the Beavers suspended righthander Jorge Reyes and outfielder John Wallace for an unspecified violation of team rules.

“Jorge and John are very good individuals and have a history of being terrific ambassadors for Oregon State University,” manager Pat Casey said. “However, in this instance, they did some things that were out of character for them and not well thought through.

“There are consequences from your actions, and I’m hopeful this is an educational experience for both young men.” Named the CWS’ MOP as a freshman, Reyes is 1-1 with a disappointing 11.15 ERA in four starts for Oregon State (7-6).

Wallace, a junior, is batting .343 with two home runs and six RBI in 12 games.
