Thompson pictureDoug Kroll of CSTV checks in with his weekly column on the top players in the country. This week he checks in on starting pitchers which is led by Jacob Thompson of UVA. He had an outstanding sophomore season which saw him win 11 games without dropping a game. He has only lost four games during his collegiate career. The CBB had a chance to check out Thompson in 2007 when he dominated Boston College near the end of the season. (Our full report is available here.) The CBB included Thompson in our November article about the top pitchers in the country (Full article available here). Kroll discusses Preston Guilmet of Arizona, Brian Matusz of San Diego, Scott Gorgen of UC-Irvine, and Ryan Berry of Rice. He also puts Bobby Gagg of Coastal Carolina, Lance Lynn of Ole Miss, and Josh Satow of Arizona State as pitchers to watch for the 2008 season. The full article is available here.
