Charlottesville Regional Day 4 Recap

Oregon State 5 Rutgers 2

After enduring a washout on Sunday, Oregon State headed back to the diamond as they defeated Rutgers by a 5-2 score. Oregon State received a decent start from Jorge Reyes where he gave up two runs in six innings. Daniel Turpen was able to come in and close out the game by pitching the final three innings to get his second save. The Beavers offense was led by Lonnie Lechelt who went 3-4 with a homer. Oregon State advances in the regional to the Championship game against Virginia which took place at 6 pm on Monday while Rutgers ends the season with a 42-21 record.

Oregon State 5 UVA 3

The Beavers scored four runs in the last two innings to rally past the Virginia Cavaliers 5-3 and force a winner take all game on Tuesday for a Super Regional spot. The Beavers scored two runs off of each Jake Rule and Michael Schwimer to get the win. Daniel Turpen got the start for the Beavers after pitching the final three innings in the day game. He gave them 4.1 innings while giving up all three Cavaliers runs before getting lifted. The teams will play at noon on Tuesday to decide the Regional Championship.
