FROM NCBWA RELEASE

DALLAS - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending March 20, today. Oklahoma State junior outfielder Corey Brown was named National Hitter of the Week, while Ole Miss sophomore right-hand pitcher Lance Lynn was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

Brown led Oklahoma State to a 5-1 record last week as he hit .429 with five home runs and 15 RBI. He also scored 12 runs, went 5-for-5 in stolen bases and had a slugging percentage of 1.143. The Tampa, Fla. native hit a home run in four of OSU's six games last week, including a two-home run, five RBI performance in the first game of the double header against Hartford last Saturday. Brown leads his team with 10 home runs and 35 RBI and also ranks among the top three in the league for nine offensive categories.

Lynn held a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the nation's top team and one of the SEC's top offenses as he helped the Rebels to a 6-1 win over No. 1 Vanderbilt last Saturday. It was the first loss of the season for the Commodores and snapped a 20-game winning streak on Vanderbilt's home field, as Lynn worked a career-long 8.0 innings in the win. Lynn only gave up one unearned run in the eighth inning after stifling Vanderbilt, as the Rebels combined for a one-hit game against the Commodores. Only four Commodores reached base and just one advanced past first. He struck out five, walked three and allowed only one hit.

With this week's honor, Lynn automatically is named to the watch list for Roger Clemens Award, given to the national collegiate pitcher of the year, sponsored by the Greater Houston Baseball Organization.
