Kyle Russell had three RBIs on two home runs Sunday to help lead Texas to an 8-3 victory over Baylor.
Brad Suttle hit an RBI double and Russell followed with his first homer of the afternoon to give Texas (19-7, 3-0 Big 12) a 3-0 lead in the fourth. Texas added a run in the fifth on a triple by Chance Wheeless and another in the sixth on Russell’s solo homer.
The game was the fourth this year in which Russell hit two home runs.
The Longhorns got their final three runs in the eighth. Suttle singled to score Wheeless and then scored on a throwing error. Russell scored on a single by Josh Prince.
Chase Gerdes homered for Baylor (12-10, 0-3) in the fifth. Seth Hammock hit an RBI single in the sixth and Tim Jackson scored on a throwing error for the other Bear runs.
Joseph Krebs (4-0) gave up one run on five hits an struck out two in five innings for Texas.
Randall Linebaugh (2-2) took the loss for Baylor, giving up five runs on six hits in seven innings.
