The Wake Forest Demon Deacons used a two run homer in the bottom of the tenth inning by Tyler Smith to give them an exciting 9-7 victory over the Charlotte 49ers. This was Smith’s first at bat on the season and he produced in a big way. Charlotte starter Spencer Steedley had a rough outing by going 6+ innings while giving up six runs (only five earned). Ryan Hamilton picked up the loss for the 49ers by going 2.0 innings and gave up the two run homer. Ben Hunter picked up the win for the Demon Deacons by giving them 2.2 scoreless innings of relief while only giving up one hit to pick up his first victory of the young season.
