Canisius Director of Athletics Bill Maher announced Tuesday that head baseball coach Mike McRae has resigned his position at the College to pursue other opportunities in baseball.

“In his 14 years at Canisius, Mike McRae worked tirelessly to build Golden Griffin baseball into one of the premier programs in the MAAC and in the northeast,” Maher said. “We thank him for his service to the College and the dedication to helping the student-athletes in our program achieve both personal and team success. We wish him the best of luck in the next step of his career.”

“There will always be a place in my heart for the Canisius baseball program and its members,” McRae said. “I am proud of our accomplishments and prouder of the people who have emerged from it. It was a privilege to be the head coach here.”

Canisius assistant coach Matt Mazurek, a member of McRae’s coaching staff for the last 12 years, will handle the day-to-day head coaching responsibilities for the program until a permanent replacement is announced.
