2016 NCAA Division 2 Baseball Bracket Released

NCAA-BaseballLogoSmall.jpgINDIANAPOLIS—The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee has selected the 56 teams that will participate in the 2016 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.

The championship provides for two regional sites hosting six teams, four regional sites hosting seven teams and two regional sites hosting eight teams, for a total of eight regional sites. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played May 19-23. Regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 28-June 4 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The finals will be hosted by the University of Mount Olive and the town of Cary, North Carolina.

Twenty-three conferences receive automatic qualification into the 2016 championship. Each conference and its automatic qualifier are listed below:

Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association – Chowan University

Peach Belt Conference – Columbus State University

Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference – West Chester University of Pennsylvania

Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference – Colorado Mesa University

South Atlantic Conference – Catawba College

Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference – Claflin University

Sunshine State Conference – University of Tampa

In the 2015 championship, University of Tampa captured its seventh national championship title in school history with a 3-1 victory over Catawba College.

This year marks the 49th annual championship, and the eighth consecutive year that the finals have been held in Cary, North Carolina.
